Introducing our 2019 Charity Boxers

The Following Men and Women are stepping outside of their comfort zone's and stepping into the Ring in October right here in Townsville.

We are proud to present the following Contenders

Brent Storey

Director - Sun City Motorcycles

Supporting Canteen

I’m being active to support young people when cancer crashes into their world.

Cancer endangers young people's developing independence, while also making them grow up too fast and weighs them down with worries they're not supposed to have yet.

CanTeen is the game changer. They help young people cope with cancer in their family.

Win, Lose or Draw, I will give 100% and hopefully reach my target of $10 000 that can go straight towards the Local Townsville CanTeen group.

Lets make a difference...

Keith Wilson

Director - Ninth Avenue Constructions

Supporting Ronald McDonald House TSV

I am aiming to raise much needed funds for my two chosen local charities which are Ronald McDonald House Townsville and Mates in Construction.

Please keep an eye on my gofund me page for my fundraising events and updates.

Chais Sale

Supporting & Fighting in memory of my 32 year old  cousin Casey Townsend who sadly lost his life in June this year - I aim to raise funds towards helping Sharna (Casey’s wife) raise their 3 beautiful children who have suddenly been left without their Dad after a tragic battle with a stroke and a brain tumour.

Nadia Feltrin

I have decided to fight alongside Chais Sale and raise money for his cousin's family.

Chais' cousin Casey Townsend sadly lost his battle in June this year at the age of 32 after a tough battle against a brain tumour and stroke. He sadly left behind his wife Sharna and their 3 beautiful kids. I will be fighting so that Sharna can continue to provide for their kids who lost their Dad at such a young age.

The financial strain of medical bills, mortgage repayments as well as everyday living costs spiralled out of control for this family – hopefully with your help I can assist them and make a small difference

Supporting: Althea Projects

For those who know me, it would be an understatement if I said 2019 has been a bit tough year. So to help myself heal mentality and physically, I've decided to take on this massive challenge that scares the living daylights out of me.  It also allows me to focus on doing some good in the world by raising much-needed funds for a fantastic local charity called Althea Projects.

For those who don't know, Althea projects is a small community based not-for-profit organisation — providing support to families across a full range of complex issues that face families and children, which offers support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Furthermore, Althea projects provide crisis accommodation for children under 11 years old, arrange food parcels, vouchers for families in financial stress and support foster carers.

Please help me raised much-needed funds for this worthwhile charity which is doing amazing work in the Townsville Community.

Supporting Drought Angels

Drought Angels have done some wonderful things for our Aussie farmers over the last few years, my own parents also having experienced their immense generosity. Not only have they supported our drought affected farmers, but also those who have suffered through flooding and fires. This Cause is very close to my heart and I would love for you to be able to help me reach my goal.

Thank you for supporting this great cause!!

Supporting Dementia Australia

As a primary school teacher I spend most of my days shaping young minds… however this October I’ll be ‘shaping up’ in the ring to fight for Dementia Australia. I chose this charity because both sides of my family have experienced the ripple effect of a dementia diagnosis. Watching your family members forget you is never easy. I’m sure forgetting is harder.

About my charity:

Dementia Australia supports families all across Australia, including Townsville. With Alzheimer’s disease as the most common form, there are more than 100 types of dementia. Although dementia can affect people of all ages, it is more common after the age of 65. Dementia is the second leading cause of death of Australians. It is fatal, and there is currently no cure.

Your donations will directly support those living with dementia, their families and carers in your community.
Services provided to the community of Townsville include –
· Dementia Helpline where people can talk to caring and experienced professionals;
· Living with Dementia Program where people can obtain information and talk confidentially with others in a similar situation;
· Care for the Carer Program for family carers and family members to maintain positive carer wellbeing;
· Library and information services which provides access to dementia related consumer health information and services;
· Assisting many in time of need with our education seminars, workshops and programs.

Peter Chatfield

Representing Dawsons Engineering

Supporting: Mentally Healthy City Townsville in aid of Tropical Brain and Mind Foundation Inc

The MHC Townsville Project aims to help the people of Townsville flourish and thrive as a community by heightening the focus on mental wellness and through assisting individuals and organisations to better support those people who from time to time may be mentally unwell.  Townsville has many clinical services to offer, however it is not enough to address just intervention to mental illness without informed prevention.
All funds will stay here locally in Townsville!

Christian Agapiou

VIP Executive at the Ville resort and Casino

Supporting: The Bishop Michael Putney Fellowship

I aim to raise money to help prevent Youth Suicide after losing mates of My own to Suicide.

Mental health has emerged as a major issue in regional Australia, with our North Queensland region now having the highest rate of youth suicide in the world. Much needed research and awareness is required to start addressing this problem.

Shane Martin

Supporting: Hounds 4 Healing

H4H provides training for assistance dogs to our Australian veterans suffering from PTSD. I have witnessed first hand the difference that these dogs make in the lives of our brave veterans who have put their bodies and lives on the line for us. This is my way of saying thank you for their brave service to our country.
Hounds 4 Healing is a not for profit organisation founded by Australian Defence Force veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). We share a common theme at H4H, that being the one that our dogs are our freedom. They give us the necessary support to brave the world again. By creating a solid and reliable bond between dog and handler, they can start to gain some independence and a routine again.

Councillor Russ Cook

Supporting: Legacy

I will proudly be stepping in to the ring this year in Fight For Your Cause to support Townsville Legacy.

I joined Townsville Legacy in 2018 as a volunteer Legatee to help support the families of veterans who have given their lives or health during or as a result of their service to our country. My father passed away last year and he completed two tours of Vietnam so I have seen firsthand the difference that Legacy makes to the lives of others.

Townsville Legacy has been serving our local community since 1946 and relies on the generosity of our local community to raise funds to provide social, emotional and financial support for hundreds of widows, widowers, children, youth and disabled dependents.

Please support me and Townsville Legacy by clicking the ‘Donate Now’ button. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Supporting:  The Townsville Leukaemia Foundation QLD Freemasons Village.

This not for profit organisation provide a home away from home for the couples and families battling various forms of Leukaemia. With 18 fully self contained units, the  facilities and support which are provided by this organisation at no cost, are invaluable to those in need.

Not only is this a charity that I support but it is also close my heart as I have had family and friends around me who have had to utilise these facilities on extremely short notice. Without their help and support, I don't know how they would have gotten through and we are all forever grateful.

Andrew Kewa

Representing: Waters Abrasive Blasting Services

Supporting: Townsville Revival Fellowship (church)

I’ve decided to fight this year as I want to make a difference in my community and give back. I am aiming to raise as much as possible for my local charity and church, Townsville Revival Fellowship. When I lived in PNG, Revival Fellowship supported me through a lot of tough and troubling times, and when I was lucky enough to move to Australia, I found the church has a small group here in Townsville. My church is full of amazing and supportive people and I decided it was time to give back to the people who had given me so much.

Paul Millar

Owner Mildizzfit - PT

Supporting:  Children's Cancer Institute

If you've witnessed someone suffer at the hands of Cancer then you know how much quality of life is stripped from them. If they pass away it's almost a relief to see them free from that pain. It seems dark but it's the reality.

I lost my mum, the most beautiful person in the world, to this terrible disease. To see her endure through her last moments was heartbreaking. This is happening to children. Their futures being stripped away and facing a battle that no child should have to. There is hope but we have to work together. We need to beet this disease. Those scientists need funding. Let's do our part.

Ross Viney

Representing: Waters Abrasive Blasting Services

Supporting: Fulham Road Consulting.

Fulham Road Consulting does an outstanding job supporting our community through offering a full range of psychiatric and clinical psychology services for adults, couples, children and families.  This cause is very personal as I know family who have suffered with PTSD and can see how damaging it can be to someone’s life. Post-traumatic stress disorder or commonly known as PTSD, is a group of stress reactions that can develop after we witness a traumatic event. This disorder does not discriminate – anyone can experience traumatic events that leave a scar.

Aaron Bathis

Supporting Selectability

Hi guys I’m stepping in the ring this year and raising money for a great cause for mental health and suicide prevention.

As some of you may know I tried to take my own life 3 months ago and if it wasn’t for a great support network I don’t know where I would be today. So doing this fight and raising money I get to show everyone how I turned a negative into a positive. We need to get the word out that it’s ok not to be ok. And that there is always someone willing to help you get through the tough times. ...

Donating even the smallest amount helps
And all funds stay local in Townsville.
